Permit Requirements
Applies To:
- Stationary Sources that emit Toxic Air Contaminants (TAC) or Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAP)
- Stationary Sources that have the potential to emit two pounds or greater of any pollutant
- Natural gas fired equipment with a British Thermal Unit (BTU) rating 1,000,000 or greater
- Equipment utilizing internal combustion engines that have a Horse Power rating greater than 50 hp.
- Coating operations that use greater than one gallon of materials on any day
- Storage containers for petroleum and solvent based products
Prohibitory Rules:
- The Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District (SMAQMD) has more than 40 Prohibitory Rules that apply to specific operations and activities
- These Rules apply regardless of Permit status
- The SMAQMD also regulates Asbestos removal and demolitions that will disturb asbestos
Air Resources Board Air Toxic Control Measures:
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has over 20 Air Toxic Control Measures that apply to specific operations and activities.
