Compliance Assistance

BERC offers Free and Confidential compliance assistance and provides clients a plethora of resources. BERC is non-regulatory to provide one-on-one compliance assistance with: Local, State, and Federal Permit regulations; Environmental permits and regulatory requirements; and Start-up, new, and expanding business support.

 

Business Retention

BERC is part of the Sacramento County Office of Economic Development.
The Office of Economic Development has expertise in business development, expansion strategies, and working with local regulatory agencies to find solutions for your business. Our team is dedicated to enhancing the economic vitality of the community and encouraging diverse businesses to locate, expand,​ and thrive in Sacramento County.

 

Brownfields

Brownfields​ Program promotes the restoration and reuse of contaminated properties. Currently BERC has not received any additional grant money to provide site assessments to qualified properties in the Sacramento Area. This may change in the future.

 

Sustainable Business

BERC administers the Sustainable business (SB) program which certifies and promotes businesses and other organizations in the Sacramento, Placer, Yolo, and El Dorado Counties that pledge to adopt environmentally friendly practices as well as conserve resources. There are six categories which include: 

    • Energy Conservation
    • Water Conservation
    • Pollution Prevention
    • Solid Waste Reduction
    • Transportation & Air Quality
    • Green Building​

 

Recycling Market Development​ Zone (RMDZ)

The RMDZ program strengthens the local manufacturing sector by offering financial, technical and marketing incentives to small and medium size manufacturers. It designates a geographic area as a project area similar to an Enterprise Zone.


Purpose of Program:

  • Develop sustainable markets for diverted solid waste materials
  • Identify businesses that could use recycled materials in their manufacturing
  • Assist businesses to replace their virgin feedstock with post-consumer materials
  • Allow new businesses to be recruited to use target materials such as food, waste, e-waste (electronics), green waste, and mixed plastics
