Integrated Design Solutions
SMUD's premier new construction incentive program, Integrated Design Solutions, works with building owners and design teams to further optimize proposed designs. For all-electric designs, in addition to a potential owner incentive, the design team may also be eligible for an incentive for incorporating technologies into the design that shift from inefficient gas usage to more efficient heat pump technologies. Integrated Design Solutions pays potential incentives for both beneficial electrification (using technologies that switch from using gas for space and water heating to heat pump technologies) as well as energy efficiency.
The Multifamily Program is designed for multifamily properties of 5 units or more with incentives to support switching to cleaner, more efficient electric space heating, water heating and cooking appliances. Electric appliances save money and increase tenant safety.
Incentives are also available to install upgrades that improve energy efficiency and to install electric vehicle charging stations. To get started, complete the interest form. If you have any questions, email MultifamilySupport@frontierenergy.com or call 916-382-0332.
Commercial EV Program
SMUD's Commercial EV Program incentives make it easy and affordable for your business to be EV ready. Take advantage of incentives for your commercial vehicles including light-duty cars, trucks or semi-tractors, and forklifts. Plus, electric vehicle charging installations for customers, tenants or employees are eligible for incentives of $1,500 per handle for each level 2 EV charger.

Commercial Edible Food Recovery :
Every day, tons of food that is safe for
human consumption is taken to landfills
where it is buried and produces methane,
a greenhouse gas.
Effective 01.01.22, state law SB 1383
aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
from wasted food, and get edible food to
those who are hungry.
The law applies to these business types,
known as Edible Food Generators.
